History

​History of CMV as a vaccine vector:

  • 2003: cloning of RhCMV genome as an infectious Bacterial Artificial Chromosome (BAC) (Barry)
  • 2009: immunization of rhesus macaques (RMs) with RhCMV/SIV vector with 50% protection against virulent, repeated, low-dose SIV challenge with the Effector T cell-mediated protection (OHSU, Jarvis)
  • 2015: immunization of RMs with RhCMV/EBOV with 75% protection against EBOV challenge with Ab-mediated protection (Jarvis, Feldmann)
  • 2018: immunization of RMs with RhCMV/MTb with 41% protection against MTb challenge (OHSU)
